You have just installed the Push Monkey app on your Shopify store, consumers are subscribing for push notifications, a few abandoned carts are rescued, some products are being watched for price drops. It all seems to go fairly alright until now. What is the next step?
The natural next step is to increase your numbers: more rescued abandoned carts, more products followed for either “Price Drop” notifications or “Back in Stock” notifications. To do so you must put to use one of our favourite concepts: relevant content. Sending generic notifications with vague content similar to “A product you follow is now back in stock” is a good start, but we can do better. How does “The Red Striped T-shirt you follow is now back in stock!” sound? A relevant push notification sparks a stronger impression in the consumer’s memory. Impression that is most likely to lead to a sale.
How To Send Effective Push Notification from Your Shopify Store
Push Monkey recommends using some special dynamic keywords when customising the content of your notifications. These special keywords can be found right below each field you are updating on the Settings screen of your Push Monkey Dashboard. Here is a screenshot of the Settings screen in your Dashboard:
Let’s consider the following product: the “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos” book with the original price of $12 and the new price of $10. If the Notification Message is defined as “[product-price]” is now cheaper at $[price]”, subscribers for this Price Drop notification would receive the messages as “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos is now cheaper at $10.“.
Relevance, Relevance, Relevance
This is our mantra. The same keywords and approach can be used for all Shopify features, including “Abandoned Carts” and “Back in Stock” notifications.
